Avinash Supe is Emeritus Professor in Surgical Gastroenterology at Seth G S Medical College and K E M Hospital, Mumbai. He has completed his Masters in Surgery about 41 years ago and has been involved in research and writing about surgical gastroenterology and health professions education. He has published 8 books and over 318 research papers most relating to Gastrointestinal Surgery and medical Education.
His books include: practical surgery and the art and science of Medical teaching. Recently he also published book on Artificial Intelligence in Medical education. He was contributor to development of Tokyo guidelines for Acute cholecystitis and Acute cholangitis. He is also is a frequent contributor to the media for newspapers, magazines, radio and TV shows. He has been associated with International hepato Biliary Pancreatic association for last 20 years and has been on various international and national committees and academic projects for hepatopancreatic biliary surgery and medical education. He is on editorial board of “ Medical Education”, “Korean Journal of Medical education”. He was also founder director of FAIMER regional institute – an International faculty development program for advancement of research in Medical education across the globe.
