David Scott Coombs is a consultant endocrine surgeon at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, UK. He undertakes all aspects of thyroid , parathyroid and adrenal surgery. He has a particular interest in the roles of parathyroid localization and intra operative PTH assay. He is past president of the British association of endocrine surgery and the European Society of Endocrine Surgery. He is president of the Eurocrine society. He is a passionate advocate that surgeons should know their own outcomes and how they compare with peers. He continues to actively publish articles based on his Unit’s outcomes. He has written chapters in most leading textbooks on endocrine surgery. He is an examiner for FRCS examination (UK) and is the past chairman of the board of endocrine surgery examinations for the division of endocrine surgery in Europe (FEBS).
