Biography: Lindsay Damkat-Thomas

Lindsay Damkat-Thomas is a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with a specialist interest in adult and paediatric Burn Surgery. She works at the National Burn Centre of New Zealand, based in Middlemore Hospital, Auckland. Prior to her appointment in 2021 she completed specialist Burn Surgery Fellowships at Beverwijk Red Cross Hospital, Netherlands and the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Australia.  She is medical graduate of Queen’s University Belfast (2003) and completed plastic surgery training in Northern Ireland. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland and has a Masters of Trauma Surgery.

Lindsay has an interest in all aspects of acute and reconstructive Burn Care, particularly scar management, and very much enjoys working in the multi-disciplinary team. She has published in peer reviewed journals and presented her work at international conferences. She enjoys teaching surgical trainees and medical students and is member of multiple professional organizations including the Australia and New Zealand Burns Association and the New Zealand Association of Plastic Surgeons.
