Karen Nugent is a Senior Lecturer in General Surgery (Colorectal) based at the Southampton University NHS trust. She was appointed in 1999 having trained as a senior registrar in Basingstoke, Southampton and at Hopital St. Antoine in Paris. Her clinical interests are in the field of pelvic floor conditions and anal cancer. She co-authored the Position Statement for the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland on Anal cancer. She has also has a major interest in education.
She is a Past President of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland, Past President of the coloproctology section of the Royal Society of Medicine and is Past President of the Pelvic, Obstetric and Gynaecology Physiotherapists.
Karen is married with four children
