Mr Adam Greenbaum is a Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive, and Hand Surgeon.
Qualifying in 1987 from St Bartholomew’s Hospital, he completed general training, followed by an MBA and PhD. His original research in microsurgery and muscle flap conditioning to create functional reconstructive flaps was supported with a Wellcome Research Fellowship and awarded a Hunterian Professorship by the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1997.
His specialist training in plastic surgery spanned London, Manchester, Preston and Glasgow, and in 2003 he passed the Specialist Intercollegiate Fellowship in the UK and Eire and was Board Certified in Europe.
Mr Greenbaum took up a consultant post at Guy’s, St. Thomas’ and King’s College Hospitals, with a joint appointment to St John’s Hospital for Diseases of the Skin. With a special interest in skin cancer, he jointly ran the melanoma and post Moh’s surgery reconstructive services for Southeast London, and a paediatric birthmark clinic.
Having married a New Zealander and started a family, he relocated and practices in the country with, coincidentally, the highest rate of skin cancer worldwide. Within skin oncology, his focus is increasingly on dermoscopy and early detection of skin cancers. His twin passions are facial reconstruction and the surgical management of Dupuytren’s disease.
He maintains a keen interest in clinical research, especially in the fields of sentinel node biopsy for melanoma, breast reduction and intentional burn injuries, often acting as an invited peer-reviewer and expert forensic witness. His work has been published and cited extensively in scientific and surgical journals.
