Biography: Peter Giannoudis

Peter Giannoudis MD, PhD, FACS, FRCS, MBE, is the head of the Academic Department of Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Leeds, UK. He is an Honorary Consultant at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS, Trust where his clinical practice is focused on the management of patients with multiple trauma, pelvis and acetabulum reconstruction, upper and lower limb reconstruction, periarticular fractures, and post fracture fixation complications amongst others.

Peter has served a number of positions of responsibility including, President of British Trauma Society, President of European Society of Pelvis and Acetabulum, President ESTROT Society, Chair International Membership Committee OTA, Chairman AO Masters Course, Trustee British Orthopaedic Association, Editor in Chief Injury Journal, Chair AO Foundation Global Research Trauma Commission. His research portfolio includes: Immuno-inflammatory response to trauma, Biology of mesenchymal stem cells, Fracture healing, Genetic predisposition to non-union, Tissue engineering approaches to bone and soft tissue defects, Clinical outcomes.

He is a visiting Professor in 21 universities around the world and has published 14 textbooks and over 800 peered reviewed publications. Peter has delivered over 500 international key note lectures.
